March is Save Your Vision Month

By: Kady

Just because you have clear vision doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t need to see your eye doctor. This Save Your Vision Month, make it a priority to schedule a comprehensive eye exam if it’s been two years or more since your last one.

Routine eye exams can catch trouble brewing that may not even be noticeable to you yet, like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other vision and health issues.

Have you noticed changes to your eyesight lately? Whether it’s a lack of visual acuity, dryness or redness, all can be indicators of something that needs to be addressed by your eye doctor.

Here are some ways to stay on top of your eye health between appointments:

  • Always wear protective eyewear when working with power tools or at a job that requires PPE. Your sight is not worth the risk!
  • Take breaks from your screen if you sit at a desk all day. Use the 20-20-20 rule: Look at something at least twenty feet away for twenty seconds every twenty minutes.
  • Eat lots of eye-healthy foods, like salmon, raw red pepper, and leafy greens.
  • Make sure your sunglasses are polarized. If not, your sunglasses could be working against you by allowing your pupil to dilate without protection from UV rays.
  • Save your vision this March! If you have any questions or concerns, book in with your Beyond Vision Optometrist.
