How can I tell if I have dry eyes?

If you are suffering from dry eyes, you may experience a gritty feeling, itching, burning, redness or swelling near the eye, the feeling that you have something in your eye, blurred vision or even sensitivity to light.

Occasionally, dry eyes can cause the eye to produce more tears than normal, a symptom called reflex tearing. Because these tears are primarily water, they cannot coat your eye’s surface and won’t provide relief from dry eyes.

What causes dry eyes?

There are a number of factors that can cause acute or chronic dry eye symptoms. Sometimes the aging process, specifically menopause can lead to dry eyes. Sometimes, common prescription or over-the-counter medications can have side effects that cause dry eyes. Other diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or collagen vascular diseases may cause a person to be prone to dry eyes.

If you recently received eyelash extensions and are now experiencing dry eyes, you may be suffering from a condition called blepharitis, an inflammatory eyelid disease. High blood pressure has been linked to dry eye symptoms.

Spending time in a windy, dusty or dry climate, even for a short amount of time, may cause acute dry eye symptoms.

What treatment does Beyond Vision recommend for dry eyes?

Beyond Vision is a supplier of Thealoz Duo® dry eye relief, a produce that hydrates, protects and regenerates the eye’s surface. Thealoz Duo® contains no preservatives or phosphates and works to increase your eye’s tear film thickness. Most importantly, Thealoz Duo® will reduce damage to your eye’s surface. Beyond Vision recommends this product for moderate to severe dry eye symptoms.

Thealoz Duo® is a combination of two proven dry eye therapies:
